An iteration of Poneyboyz, Poney-sur-mer follows the not-so-secret life of centaurs on the beach or where ever they happen to be. Poney-sur-mer is an adaptative in situ piece where we work with local performers to create an hour-long improv performance around the idea of community and group dynamics, inspired by the space we are in.
They sight of these mythical yet casual creatures in familiar landscapes creates sparks of magic in the local audience's minds. It also questions, though the lens of the animal documentary outlook, our own relation to the ecosystems we are part of and our impact on them.
The piece was first created on the beach in Marsoui, QC, for the FURIES festival. We can take it anywhere as a team of three people, and will supply costumes and a workshop with local performers. We'd love to explore the urban environment and question the relation we have to green spaces in cities or, even more fascinating, suburbs.
